If 40 is the new 20, then what are the 30s?

These last couple of weeks has been somewhat life changing for many of my closest friends and family. All of them have come to the sense that they need to do something drastic with their lives. Most of them were not planned at all, others had some strategic moves that they had planned for some time now.

Also everything around me on TV, radio (yes I do listen to the radio sometimes) and in the written media have all talked about life changing moments and how to think outside the box. This thing is haunting me somehow. For example, Courtney Cox does a show about a 40 something women that are re-living their lives to the fullest. Basically being 20 again.

But if being 40 is the new 20, then what are we that are closing in on 30 or just passed 30?! Are we the new teenagers? Are we going to be super crazy, party like it’s the first time we go outside our houses and just explore everything that is new to us? Does anyone even remember how it was to be 15? I’m trying to remember but I know that I was pretty fearless and my partners in crime made me do some crazy things. Well I wanted to do some crazy things.

Also is stability so last year? That is the beauty with a financial crisis, we all have think outside the box. Maybe that is why this subject is coming up all the time? One person in my family has decided to move to Malmö, I’m becoming an uncle cause one of my sisters are pregnant, two of my dearest friends have re-started their lives as singles and have their own businesses, one has gone from one company to another and then to a third one to make sure to get the best that he can for his own carrier and the list goes on.

So tell me, what is your next move? Is it ok just to do as one pleases to make sure that you get what you want…or is it better to play it safe?

My next move? Surely France, i must move in the south of France at the end of the year. I'm a little scared about it, but i've so much things to do that i don't have the time to think about it.

I do agree with you in many points.
And yes, also noticed many changes around me this year which makes me think bit more about choices and next steps to take.

Title of your post, haha, I am 30 now and never felt better!
It is definitely much more nicer than 10years ago in terms how I do look, behave, how confident, strong and easy-going I am (maybe less wild parties and crazy romances, but more planning and making proper choices for me right now :-).
Plus think it's more fun and freedom in your 30ties- I can spend my own money, afford many items that we are writing about, travel where and when I want etc.
You can call it SATC/Cougar Town's attitude, but damn- it's just our reward for hard work, stress and one of methods to relax.
We talked about it live some time ago, so think you got my point already

I am definitely glad that recent credit crunch shown us that there is also saving part. It helps us to develop some long-term perspective, show right priorities and values and cherish what we already have- including all these small, but precious moments.
It is ok as long as we are all healthly and rather satisfied with ourselves

My plans? Yeah, maybe change of work, perhaps another new destination. Hell, I am always ready- we just have one life and don't want to spend it with too much regret! :-)

Eclair, it will go fine. I did a move like that a couple of years ago and after a week it felt perfect.

Jacob I agree with you and yes we actually had that talk live. Lol, the freedom is bigger in our 30s but still someone told me when we had a carrer talk the other day that "Paolo your not getting younger". Then my best friend said yesterday "Im getting botox..." and I was like "shit this thing never ends. But at the same time I love the fact that my 30s is coming closer. Who knows, maybe the best time of my life is coming up.

Ha, think that age is just the state of mind. And everything is possible with groomed body + proper attitude ;-)
Botox? If I feel like one day, but nah, I love to laugh and prefer to show my all face expressions, lol. Still believe in my wonder creams though- they are very effective, especially in emptying my wallet;-)

Of course, your adventure just begins!
